Import Promotion Desk presents a wide variety of fresh produce from Africa
The IPD initiative, set up to for promote imports, will once again be participating at Fruit Logistica 2022, where it will show European importers the wide range of fresh fruit and vegetables available from emerging markets and developing countries. A particular focus at the fair will be on exporters and products from Africa. Besides Egypt, Cote d’Ivoire and Ghana, the IPD’s new partner country, Morocco, will also be participating for the first time.
Large selection from Africa
The IPD’s African partner countries offer a broad range of fresh fruit and vegetables. Egyptian producers offer not only classics, like citrus fruits and grapes, but also pomegranates and peaches. Very good quality mangoes, pineapples and papaya are also on offer from Cote d’Ivoire and Ghana. In addition, the companies will be bringing fresh coconuts to Fruit Logistica 2022. The range of vegetables is equally varied: yam roots, sweet potatoes, chilli and okra pods are just some examples of Ghanaian products, whilst the range on offer from the IPD’s Egyptian enterprises include snow peas and sugar snap peas, spring onions, red and yellow onions, bell peppers and sweet potatoes.
New partner Morocco
Morocco will be represented at Fruit Logistica 2022 for the first time as a new IPD partner country. Good climatic conditions, high-quality soil and a high level of biodiversity make Morocco a very promising source market, with the strategic advantage that its harvesting period for fresh fruit and vegetables starts earlier than in Europe. The IPD experts will be making sourcing trips to Morocco to identify and assess exporters of a range of products, including fresh herbs, like mint and rosemary, and fresh dates.
Subtropical and tropical fruit
Besides African producers, IPD companies from South America will also be participating at Fruit Logistica 2022. Exporters from Ecuador, Colombia and Peru will add to the range of subtropical and tropical fruits on offer, while also bringing other products like ginger and curcuma to the trade fair.
The IPD companies offer a diverse and high-quality range of products that meet all the requirements of the European market. The selected producers conform to the standards of GLOBALG.A.P. or hold EU organic certificates. All the exporters in the IPD programme are visited by IPD experts and are prepared for the European market. Specialist exhibitions like Fruit Logistica are a chance for the IPD to introduce these carefully evaluated enterprises to European retailers. This means of preparation ensures that importers can be put in touch with reliable producers. The IPD is planning more purchasing trips to partner countries in the future, to enable importers to see the quality and local conditions on-site. With its services, the IPD supports European importers neutrally and free of charge in their sourcing, thereby enabling them to expand their portfolios and optimise their purchasing.
