Turkey’s orange crop is estimated to increase by 40% in 2021/22 to 1.82 million tons, due to favourable weather conditions in March and April 2021. However, as USDA reports, input costs for items such as fertiliser, fuel, and pesticides are still considered too high and farm-gate prices too low. In line with the larger crop, orange exports in 2021/22 are expected to increase by 20% to 265,000 tons compared with the previous season. Tangerine exports are expected to be up 11% to 1 million tons. Meanwhile, lemon production is expected to increase by 27% to 1.4 million tons.
