Spaniards’ out-of-home food consumption was up by 23.4% in 2021 and is now almost at pre-pandemic levels, according to Kantar data.
In a speech at the HIP-Horeca Professional Expo, Cristina García, expert in Foodservice at Kantar, Worldpanel division, said: “Vaccination has helped boost consumption outside home. Compared to 2020, when we cooked more at home, in 2021, we were once again looking for convenience.
However, despite this good performance, frequency of consumption continues to be a serious issue. However, average spend on each act of out-of-home food consumption is higher than two years ago, and now stands at €9.2, which is 11% higher than in 2019.
