CO2 Correct showcases Live Impact Calculator
Netherlands-based sustainability venture CO2 Correct presented its Live Impact Calculator at the Fruit Logistica exhibition in Berlin, offering fresh produce professionals rapid insights to aid their decision-making on sustainability issues.
Founder of CO2 Correct Stephan Schneider said: « With our Live Impact Calculator we will give people direct insights and talk about improving their sustainable impact. It’s a truly unique tool that suits the fruit and vegetable industry, where people love getting quick insights and taking direct measures.”
CO2 Correct is an initiative helping companies in the supply chain to correct the entire carbon impact of a fruit or vegetable.
« The clear label and simple message takes away climate concerns for consumers buying the product, » the company explained. « From the CO2 corrected starting point, organisations start in reducing their impact in the supply chain with various sustainable initiatives. »
According to Schneider, the aim is to make sustainability more accessible to the fruit and vegetable sector: « Only if we join forces to fight climate change can we make a difference. The calculator is a way to show people this information and let them experience the direct impact of changes in country of origin, transport and packaging. »
Last week, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) gave its starkest warning yet on the steps required to avert climate chaos. For a chance of limiting future global heating to 1.5ºC above pre-industrial levels, greenhouse gas emissions must peak by 2025 and must be nearly halved this decade.
