Biosphera ramps up production of organic green asparagus
Family-run Biosphera is dedicated to the marketing of organic fruit and vegetables. After starting out by producing organic stone fruit in 2005, it has since expanded its range of products, which now includes organic green asparagus. “We started growing green asparagus in 2020 and we plan to expand production area to around 100 ha by 2025. Thanks to our greenhouses, we hope to bring forward the campaign and begin producing at the start of February and continue until the end of April, so as to fit in with the stone fruit campaign,” said operations director Pablo Casallo. Their firm’s organic green asparagus is exported to Europe (France, Germany, the UK, and Switzerland), while windows are also opening in emerging markets, such as Singapore and the UAE. Biosphera is very committed to the sustainable development of its plantations, as evidenced by the various certifications it holds (ECO, GLOBALG.A.P, GRASP, Demeter).
