AGRITRADE EXPO & CONFERENCE: The Best agricultural business opportunity arrives to the United States
AGRITRADE Expo & Conference has been the agro-industry top center for business in Central America for 20 years. In all its editions the trade show has had the participation of over 150 international buyers from the U.S.A, Europe, Canada, Arab Emirates, and other countries.
“For the first time, the Guatemalan Exporters Association (AGEXPORT), in its way to AGRITRADE 2022, made an international launch of the agricultural trade show AGRITRADE EXPO & CONFERENCE. This time, the guests got to enjoy the gastronomic show “Guatemala: Tastes Beyond Expectations”, which was conducted by the Guatemalan chef Titi Bruderer, who prepared exclusive recipes with products from the Guatemalan exportable offer, which are found in the trade show”, said Estuardo Castro, AGRITRADES’s Organizing Committee President.
The customized recipes from the Chef were meant to demonstrate to the guests how the fresh products from Guatemala can be prepared in delicious dishes like Coffee and Chocolate Cake Opera, Red Fruit Semifreddo with blackberries and raspberries, and Avocado Ice Cream, among others. To complement the activity, an important group of Guatemalan producers and exporters took their samples to the launch: flowers, foliage, chocolate, avocado, mango, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and other products.
“This international launch reaffirms our commitment to provide the exporters and foreign markets with information of quality, but mostly this demonstrates our effort to create knowledge that guarantee high quality exporting products, our improvement on strategic alliances, and the satisfaction we provide to our main destinies such as the United States.”, said the Guatemalan Foreign Relations vice minister, Shirley Aguilar.
The Ministry of Economy is committed to the development and economic reactivation agenda, and therefore the search for promotion and new markets is essential to Guatemalan products.” He added, “Like in past situations, we are certain that the businessmen who participate will get to know a wide agricultural product offer of the highest quality.”
The agricultural sector in Guatemala managed to become the top exporting sector in the country in 2021. This sector creates 2.3 million jobs in Guatemala and its main commercial partners are the United States (63%), El Salvador (10%) and the Netherlands (8%).
According to the Bank of Guatemala, among the agricultural non-traditional products, fruits represent an exporting amount of US$307 million, followed by peas and vegetables with US$270 million reported in exports. Diverse products reached US$192 million; ornamental plants US$143 million; and mango US$10 million. The fruits exports grew 7%, including pawpaw, pineapple, berries, avocado, melons, and watermelon.
