Alimentaria attracts 100,000 visitors to showcase of new food trends
The fair featured some 3,000 exhibiting companies (400 of which were international), over 85,000 square metres in the Fira de Barcelona venue in Gran Via de L’Hospitalet. Around 23% of visitors were from outside Spain, according to data from the organisers.
The big brands in the sector were present with their own stands, as well as many small and medium-sized companies, grouped in spaces promoted by the different autonomous communities or by business associations.
The range of sustainable, healthy and innovative products on show at the fair included a packaged suckling pig from Segovia 2.0 that can be kept for up to 60 days without refrigeration, a 3D printer that generates synthetic meat steaks and fillets, a canned potato omelette that can be stored for up to a year, a liquid green olive, and a pea protein snack or a tuna replica made from soy, peas and chickpeas.
