Bejo holds Open Doors for sector

On March 2 and 3, Bejo held two Open Doors days at its El Aljibe Experimental Estate, Murcia, where attendees were able to enjoy novelties and other varieties that are already leaders, reaffirming their potential.
After two years, Bejo once again celebrated its Open Doors, after the two-year break due to the pandemic. Brassicas and leaf crops were the protagonists of the field, although it also had an indoor exhibition area for other crops.
The varieties of Brassicas planted in this Murcian field include novelties such as Mariposa, a very uniform curly cabbage; pointed cabbages such as Fernando, the most pointed that Bejo has at the moment and the leader for its flavour and post-harvest performance in medium-cycle exports. Bejo also showcased classics such as its Benelli white cabbage, which is flat and has a very mild and sweet flavour, and REDI, the purple sprouting broccoli and winner of the Fresh Product Innovation Hub at Fruit Attraction 2020.
Also new this year was a visit to an interior exhibition, which showcased the Pantano onion, the Magnus asparagus, and the Naval carrot. What’s more, there were also some especially interesting demonstrations of machinery, with automated settings for mechanical weeding. All this accompanied by audiovisual material and a catering that brought these two days to life.
