Corpohass establishes the first National Board of Hass Avocado Exporters of Colombia

Medellin, October 2021 – As of August, Colombia has exported 65,783 tons of Hass avocado obtaining a 47% growth compared to the period of 2020. In monetary terms, this amount represents $150,706,046 dollars, evidencing the great reception that the Colombian fruit is having in the 30 international destinations it currently reaches. In view of these results, the Colombian Hass Avocado Producers and Exporters Corporation, Corpohass, held the first National Round Table of Colombian Hass Avocado Exporters to continue consolidating this Colombian product in different markets.
The event was attended by the managers of 27 exporting companies, which account for more than 85% of Hass avocado exports in the country. In order to continue positioning this variety internationally, MEGA PAÍS 2025 was presented, an initiative that seeks to consolidate Corpohass as a leading guild to achieve USD$400 million in foreign exchange, exporting fruit differentiated by its quality to markets such as Europe, the United States and Asia.
Some of the ambitious strategies that the members of Corpohass are considering with MEGA PAÍS 2025 are: ensuring quality from the producer to the final consumer, implementing training programs for all the actors in the chain, building a real-time information system that provides solid data on the industry, analyzing direct participation in the international fruit promotion programs of the various agencies, and strengthening relations with the entire export ecosystem.
As a result of the installation of the Roundtable, it was possible to consolidate 11 strategies that will determine and focus the work to be carried out by the Corporation and exporters from now on. Also noteworthy is the creation of the delegated commission for monitoring progress, made up of eight representatives of the exporting companies.
In view of the current challenges posed by the different international markets, Corpohass proudly assumes this responsibility and is committed to fulfill the mandate of the Round Table, leading the present and future of the Colombian Hass avocado agroindustry.
