Ecuador establishes banana prices for 2022

Ecuador’s Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG) has established the price of a box of bananas at US$6.25 for the period from January 1 to December 31, 2022. The agreement establishes the minimum support prices for gold and purple boxes.
Ecuador accounts for 26% of the world’s banana exports, supplying Cavendish, Orito (baby banana) and red banana. The country’s climatic conditions allow for year-round supply. The main markets are Russia and the European Union (EU).
