Fruit & vegetable preferences of Russian consumers
Apples, oranges, cucumber and carrot became the leaders of express delivery purchases in March 2022, stated Evgeniy Tchetchetkin, Director for omni-channel business of Perekrestok brand. The research was carried out in over 90 cities and towns of Russia by the experts of Perekrestok, the part of the largest Russian retailer X5 Group. It revealed a definite positive trend in respect of fresh products, comparing to the 2021. This March, the clients placed 712,000 orders, or twice as much as in March 2021 (356,000). Fruit, vegetables and nuts have steadily been among the leaders of the purchase. Cucumbers and carrots take the lead, outrunning tomatoes, last years’ favourite vegetables. They are followed by potatoes in all the metropolises, except Saint Petersburg, where red beetroot is ordered online more often than potato. As for fruit, a remarkable change, comparing to 2021, is the growth of demand for apples and oranges at the expense of bananas.
Express delivery service was launched by Perekrestok in April 2020 and has been building up successfully.
