Maesk resumes partial operations at Shanghai ports
Maersk’s warehouses at ports in Shanghai have partially resumed operations, following a shutdown of the city due to the pandemic. In a statement, the world’s second-largest container shipping company said that although land-bound transportation is still problematic, China has moved to take effective measures to ensure stable and smooth supply and industrial chains so as to guarantee steady operations of Shanghai core functions as an economic, financial, trade and shipping centre.
According to the statement, Shanghai ports – including Waigaoqiao and Yangshan – are now operating normally, and reefer and cargo yard congestion at Shanghai ports has been addressed in the past several days. Maersk had halted bookings for all new reefer and some dangerous cargoes from April 14.
