Morocco expects larger citrus crop

Morocco’s citrus production for 2021/22 is forecast at 2.55 million tons, up 12% YoY, according to USDA data. Tangerine/mandarin production is expected to be up 13% over the previous year to 1.36 million tons, while orange production is projected to rise by 11% to 1.15 million tons and lemon/lime output to reach 45,000 tons. Much of the increase in production is due to favourable weather conditions and increases in the area harvested, following droughts in the previous campaign. In 2021/22, Morocco’s tangerine/mandarin exports are predicted to total about 500,000 tons, while orange exports are forecast to reach around 120,000 tons and lemon/lime exports to total 10,000 tons.
