Organic Food & Eco Living Iberia makes successful return to IFEMA Madrid
Organic Food and Eco Living Iberia – the rapidly growing international trade fair for organic and sustainable sector – welcomed 4300 attendees and connected over 350 exhibitors with senior professionals from Spain’s biggest supermarkets, shopping departments, pharmacies, distributors, and importers and exporters, as well as important buyers from around the globe. The two-day event operated an extensive hosted buyer programme, with the support of ICEX, attracting buyers from a record 51 countries, with pre-arranged meetings set up between exhibitor and buyers.
Project Director Susana Andrés Omella comments on the success of the show: “Spain is recognised as the largest and one of the most innovative producers of organic in Europe, which is why Organic Food and Eco Living Iberia is the place where the whole sector come together to network and do business. The show-floor was full of energy, and we saw the return of live cooking demonstrations, a packed seminar programme, organic wine tasting, and the results of Eco & Organic Awards Iberia. The positive feedback from our exhibitors and visitors (from across the world) proves how the show continues to be one of most important international organic events in the diary.”
International and regional brands represented
Local organic produce and packed products from Spain were represented across a multitude of regional pavilions – these included Madrid, Andalucía, La Rioja, Murcia, Castilla La Mancha, Extremadura, Valencia, and Navarra. Plus, visitors could discover tastes further afield on international pavilions from Portugal, Greece, Belgium, Austria, Poland and France.
“From a regional perspective, we are so happy to be part of this organic and natural show. This type of fair is very much needed at a national level, since we not only have to produce well, which we already do, but this show helps to promote it,” says David Samper, Presidente of Consejo de Agricultura Ecológica de la Región de Murcia.
“Attending this show is very important for us because it is a very powerful meeting point, where apart from our usual clients, large distributors and customers, we also make ourselves known to the new contacts. We are delighted to come again to Organic Food Iberia!” says exhibitor Mario Antón, Responsable Comercial Santiveri.
Important organic insights revealed
Talks from leading names in the industry highlighted trends in the organic sector, not only in the field of food, but also the latest in health and wellness, beauty, skin care, textiles, home and lifestyle from across Spain and Portugal.
Topics including organic farming in the EU, greenwashing in cosmetics, trends in the market, organic wine disruption, certification, organic vegan products, sustainable packaging (and much more) was discussed in a range of debates, interviews, and roundtables, across four theatres (Organic TALKS, Eco-living TALKS, Organic Wine TALKS, Kitchen Theatre).
“The first morning of presentations at Organic Food & Eco Living Iberia has already allowed us to observe some of the main areas effecting the future of the sector. The Spanish Association of Supermarkets, ACES, on behalf of its associates, has already taken advantage of the Fair to share many insights including the importance of improving the marketing of organic products is needed with the entire supply chain. Likewise, Portugal has discussed the important development of the organic sector in the neighbouring country, which is advancing towards meeting the sustainable development objectives, which it is already above 20% of certified organic area,” says Tomas Santos, journalist and show visitor.
