Rail service to connect Alicante and London
A new freight railway service is to open in October that will connect Alicante (Spain) with Barking (London) once a week. Trains will leave the Spanish port on Thursdays and arrive in London on Mondays, loaded with refrigerated containers of fruits, vegetables and other perishables.
The initiative is part of efforts to promote the new post-Brexit customs services offered in the port of Alicante. The Commercial Observatory of the Alicante Port Authority, coordinated by Mónica Bautista, head of the commercial division, held a meeting with the members of the Navigation, Logistics and Mobility Commission of the Alicante Chamber of Commerce, to present the work that is being developed in this regard by the Paraduane Services Committee and announce the launch of the new railway line with the United Kingdom.
