Russia’s winter vegetable production up 8.4%

The Russian production of winter vegetables has increased by 8.4% so far this year compared to the same period in 2020, according to the Russian Ministry of Agriculture, which expects, the harvest, based on cucumbers and tomatoes, to exceed 1.4 million tons.
Since the beginning of the year, 842,100 tons of vegetables have been grown in winter greenhouses, with greenhouse cucumbers totalling 507,700 tons (+1.8%), and tomato output reaching 317,500 tons (+19.7%).
The ten leading Russian regions in production are Lipetsk, Moscow, Volgograd, Kaluga, Novosibirsk, the Krasnodar and Stavropol territories, the republics of Karachay-Cherkessia, Tatarstan and Bashkortostan.
