Singapore suffers record congestion

The global shipping crisis is worsening, as shipping hubs are seeing high levels of congestion, with containers piling up. Last Monday, the backlog at Singapore was 22% above normal, with 53 container ships waiting off-shore to unload. The problems in Singapore may be connected to the surge in Covid-19 cases last week. Meanwhile, the havoc wreaked by Typhoon Kompasu in Hong Kong and Shenzhen over two weeks ago has still not dissipated, with congestion rates at those ports were still 10.4% higher than normal as of last Monday.
