The Metis® family comprises a complete category
The main variety in the Metis® family is the Oxy Solar plum, available from June until October. While the other 3 segments are not so complete, they nevertheless offer consumers a wide range of diversity and different sensations. 3 new varieties are to be added to the Sunset Sky range in September, while the supply of Dark Moon has been extended to September by the addition of a new variety, and Safari Star is still available from June to September. Last but not least, a new segment has joined the Metis® family this season: Sunny Day, the new summer treat! This yellow plum is available from early August in Italy. Volumes are still limited but should increase over the coming years.
Potential for 12,000 tons by 2025
While Metis’® production potential today stands at around 8,000 tons in Europe, this year’s crops are affected by frost damage. By 2025, production is estimated to reach 12,000 tons. Europe absorbs 50% of the sales, but there has been a notable increase in exports to Asia over the last 2 years, especially to China. Interest in Metis® is really growing in this market, which could become increasingly important over the years ahead. Efforts aimed at raising brand awareness of Metis® will continue through interaction with consumers on social media. There will be further partnerships with influencers this season, as well as competitions and games to bring fun and joy to consumers. After the complicated and gloomy past year, Metis® has one piece of advice: “Have a Sunny Day; taste a little bit of sunshine and take your mood to its zenith!”
