Transitex has arrived in India
Transitex officially opened its first office in India this June. With a ceremony for the local team held on the first day of the month, Transitex India is already a reality and 100% operational.
New Delhi is now the company’s newest location and is also its second office on the Asian continent, after arriving in China in 2015. Despite being geographically located on the Asian continent, the Transitex India project was led and will continue to be managed by the regional company manager in Africa, Tiago Martins. The newly formed team in New Delhi starts with 7 members.
Transitex already had a close business relationship with India, where it had its oldest logistics partner. The decision to open a branch stemmed from the need to guarantee its customers one of the company’s brand images, an in-house team at the origin and destination of the cargo.
Tiago Martins: “India is a growing giant, with commercial relations with all the countries where we are present. This fact, combined with our desire to serve our customers, leads us to be bold and to invest without hesitation in this market. The opening of Transitex India was a management exercise that was planned and designed according to our vision for Transitex’s internal operation: we are one company around the globe. Our entry into India is expected to lead to a 20% growth in Transitex’s global turnover.”
The giant Indian market has close commercial relations with countries where the company was already present, with emphasis on African markets: Tanzania (in 2020, of the country’s total export value, 15.1% was destined for India), Mozambique, Malawi and South Africa. In the case of the Portuguese market, it is estimated that in 2020 the value of imports from India was 890 million dollars, with emphasis on textiles, plastics and rubber.
