Turkey’s frozen produce exports rocket
In the first 6 months of 2021, Turkey’s frozen fruit and vegetable exports totalled US$118 million, an increase of 32%, with hopes of reaching $250 million by the end of the year. SonDakika reports Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association president Hayrettin Airplane as saying Turkey’s overall fresh fruit and vegetable product exports reached $935 million dollars in the first half of 2021.
Canada ranks is the main market for Turkey’s frozen strawberry exports, which reached $22 million, up 37%, in the first half of the year. Frozen potato exports totalled $18 million dollars, with China the main market. Japan is the main destination for Turkey’s frozen tomato exports, which reached $16 million, up 7%. Turkey’s frozen cherry exports in the first half of this year were worth $10 million dollars, with the US the main destination.
